These ELKLAN SLS training courses are designed to help you recognise children’s communication needs and respond with practical, evidence-based strategies that support a meaningful progress.

How does it work?
ELKLAN Speech and Language Support (SLS) courses are delivered over a ten-week period, with one group session held each week. Courses are offered via an e-learning model – a combination of online on-demand learning and online group tutorials with the course tutor.
The course combines flexible online learning with weekly opportunities to learn alongside other practitioners.
You’ll receive:
- E-learning modules for each of the weekly topics
- Ten group webinars led by an experienced course tutor (SaLT) working in schools
- ELKLAN Language Builders book packed with practical ideas and strategies
- Ongoing support and monitoring while completing your portfolio and applying your learning in the school context.
Face-to-face training is also available for group bookings on request.
ELKLAN courses are externally quality-assured and accredited through OCN London. Participants have a choice of studying at level 2 or 3.
Our support doesn’t end once you’ve completed the programme. Following the course, we offer a follow-up session to help ELKLAN-trained practitioners embed what they’ve learnt into everyday practice and make the most of the strategies within their own setting.

Course offerings
Speech & Language Support for 5-11s
A course for education staff working with children aged 5-11 years. It provides information and strategies to develop the communication skills of all children but especially those with speech, language and communication needs.

- Listening and attention and understanding spoken language

- Understanding beyond simple sentences

- An introduction to stammering and reflecting on course learning
Speech & Language Support for 11-16s
A course for education staff working with young people aged 11-16+ years. It provides information and strategies to develop the communication skills of all young people but especially those with speech, language and communication needs.
