FAQs
How can Occupational Therapy support students in school?
Occupational Therapy supports students who experience difficulties with participation, sensory regulation, posture, movement or functional school routines. In schools, OT focuses on removing barriers to learning so students can access the curriculum, engage in the classroom and develop independence throughout the school day.
Can Occupational Therapy support sensory regulation and classroom engagement?
Yes. Our Occupational Therapists support students with sensory processing differences that impact attention, regulation and behaviour. We work with schools to develop practical strategies that support sensory regulation for learning, including classroom-based adjustments and universal strategies.
Do you provide seating and equipment assessments in schools?
Yes. We carry out seating and equipment assessments within the school environment. This includes advice on classroom seating, posture, specialist equipment and adaptations to ensure students are safe, comfortable and able to participate in learning activities.
How do you work with SENCOs and teaching staff?
We take a collaborative approach, working closely with SENCOs and teachers. This includes classroom observation, consultation, strategy development and practical recommendations that can be embedded into everyday school practice. We aim to support staff to feel confident implementing strategies independently.
