Worried about your child’s SATs results? Early support could make all the difference

What do SATs results tell us about your child?

SATs, or Standard Assessment Tasks, are used to evaluate your child’s academic progress at the end of Key Stages 1 and 2. They assess reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and maths. But for many children, low scores may reflect more than just academic knowledge. Difficulties with understanding instructions, concentrating during class, or physically keeping up with tasks can all have an impact on test performance. These are often signs of underlying developmental challenges, not a lack of ability.

Could your child benefit from early intervention?

It’s not uncommon for children to face hurdles that affect their school experience. If your child finds it difficult to stay focused, follow multi-step instructions, or keep up physically during lessons or play, they may benefit from early therapeutic support. Early intervention doesn’t mean there’s something wrong—it simply means giving your child the right tools at the right time to help them succeed and feel confident at school.

How our therapists can help

Speech and language therapists support children who have trouble expressing themselves, understanding language, or interacting socially. By developing communication skills, children can better participate in class, follow instructions, and connect with others.

Occupational Therapists work with children who experience difficulties with movement, balance, posture, or stamina. Whether your child tires easily during writing tasks, struggles to sit upright at a desk, or avoids physical play, our skilled OTs can help improve their comfort, coordination, and confidence.

What’s included in the Free Mini Assessment?

Our experienced team will gently screen your child’s development and help identify whether Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, or Physiotherapy might be beneficial. These early checks give families a clearer path forward, whether that’s simply reassurance, some immediate tips on support, or timely referrals to the right services. Note they do not replace a formal clinical assessment.
